My Most Memorable Travel Experiences

Traveling, for me, is more than just exploring different parts of the world; it’s an opportunity to
connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and immerse myself in unique
experiences. Working for an airline gave me the privilege of traveling extensively as part of my
job, with the added perk of discounted flights, which made exploring the world even more
accessible.
Iceland: A Spontaneous Adventure
One of my most unforgettable trips was to Iceland in 2016 with my then-flatmate. The entire
journey was unplanned and spontaneous, yet it turned out to be the most exhilarating experience
I’ve had. We rented a car and drove around the island with no fixed itinerary, stopping wherever
and whenever we felt like it. We even arranged accommodation last minute, often deciding
where to stay on the same afternoon.
Iceland’s landscapes were simply breathtaking. We drove through snow-covered mountains,
marveled at stunning glaciers, stood in awe before magnificent waterfalls, and were lucky
enough to witness the magical northern lights. The freedom to explore at our own pace and the
natural beauty of Iceland made this trip truly unforgettable.
Taiwan and Japan: A Cultural Journey
Another cherished travel experience was a trip to Taiwan and Japan with my boyfriend. As he is
from Australia, it was incredibly special for me to show him Taiwan—where I grew up. Sharing
my culture, traditions, and the incredible Taiwanese cuisine with him was a highlight. Despite
the hot weather in Taiwan that slightly reduced our appetites, we indulged in delicious local
dishes like dumplings, stinky tofu, and an array of street food at the bustling night markets.
Together, we also embarked on some memorable hikes, which we both thoroughly enjoyed.
In Japan, we experienced a blend of history, culture, and nature. In Kyoto, we immersed
ourselves in the rich cultural heritage, visiting ancient temples and shrines. From there, we
ventured into Japan’s mountainous regions, where we marveled at the natural beauty, completed
more hikes, and even went paragliding through the mountains—a truly thrilling experience. We
ended our journey in Tokyo, where we enjoyed the vibrant energy and fast-paced city life. Each
destination offered something unique, making the trip an unforgettable adventure.
Looking Ahead
Although I’ve been fortunate to visit many incredible places, there are still countless destinations
on my bucket list. Each journey leaves me inspired and eager to see more of the world. The
thought of all the places I have yet to explore excites me, and I hope to seize every opportunity to
travel and create more amazing memories. After all, the world is vast, and life feels too short to
experience it all—but I intend to try!
